Job summary

Summit Health Management is seeking a Medical Assistant in New Jersey to support physicians and APNs with patient care, scheduling, and clerical duties. You will greet patients, collect payments, update demographics, enter orders in the EHR, and help with lab specimen handling. This role requires MA certification, BLS within 60 days, and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Bachelor’s/ Associate Degree preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification Required; Please obtain and maintain MA Certification.
• Must obtain BLS within 60 days of hire.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to be a team player.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
• Basic proficiency in computer use.
• Knowledge of medical office and terminology preferred.
• Experience with standard office equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voicemail) preferred.
• Experience with standard office technology in a Windows based environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists Physician, APN/PA with patient care, patient flow, procedures and clerical duties.
• Greeting patients/families, scheduling appointments and tests.
• Collects payments, provides account balance, issues receipts.
• Posts payments to the correct accounts.
• Open/close batches daily, prepare bank deposits.
• Answer the telephone promptly and handle caller needs.
• Take messages and deliver to appropriate staff.
• Provide referrals and/or consult orders promptly.
• Schedule and enter diagnostic tests in the order management system.
• Obtain/verify patient demographics, insurance, HIPAA forms, and financial waivers.
