Job summary

Intermountain Health in Las Vegas is seeking a Referral Specialist to serve as the primary link between Intermountain and patients, coordinating referrals and ensuring compliant, timely authorizations.

You will collaborate with patients, caregivers, hospitals, and plans to deliver excellent service, manage scheduling, verify benefits, and maintain accurate referral documentation in EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Experience using multiple business software and insurance portals.
• Prior experience in healthcare.
• Familiarity with referral services and authorization processes.

Responsibilities

• Handles referral processing and scheduling/registration; assists with business/billing inquiries.
• Resolves patient, provider, and staff requests using analytical skills.
• Verifies eligibility and benefits; obtains authorizations and tracks referrals.
• Acts as liaison to submit insurance authorizations for procedures or visits.
• Gathers information on patients' financial obligations from carriers and staff.
• Documents complete information in the referral shell with authorization data.
• Follows three-touch process via MyChart, phone, and letter.
• Forwards medical records and authorization information to providers.
