Job summary

Barrow Brain and Spine seeks a Care Coordinator to support physicians in Phoenix, AZ. You will handle patient intake, EMR scheduling, and ensure physicians have needed notes and tests before visits.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in a medical setting, strong communication, and excellent organization to maintain patient flow and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. This role involves greeting patients, rooming, obtaining vitals, coordinating referrals, restocking supplies, and supporting

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of medical setting experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• High school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree a plus.

Responsibilities

• Registers new patients in EMR with demographics and insurance info.
• Performs clerical and customer service duties for the physician's office.
• Ensures initial consultations and test results are available to the physician before visits.
• Opens chart encounters in AthenaOne and maintains patient records.
• Greet and room patients for clinic, take vitals and document assessments.
• Enter orders and E-Prescribe; create clinical visit summaries.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Communicate with physician's staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform clinic room inventories and restock supplies.
• Prepare and run daily clinic with oversight from supervisors.
• Assist Lead Care Coordinators and Supervisors with orders.
• Assist recall lists, diagnostic reviews, and follow up on orders.
• Screen incoming calls, relay messages, schedule appointments and referrals.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Keep office equipment operating and arrange repairs as needed.
• Participate in continuing education opportunities.
• Provide coverage to other positions as requested.
• Support BBS compliance program with annual training.
• Acts as ambassador of Barrow Brain and Spine, delivering exemplary patient service.
