Job summary

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis is seeking a Referral Representative I to handle basic teleservices such as physician referrals and appointment requests, using interviewing skills to match information to caller needs and to support patients and physicians with timely information.

You will document calls, follow established guidelines, and assist across referral sources while maintaining confidentiality and high standards of service.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 1–3 years in customer service, collections or call center
• Ability to communicate verbally with associates, management and physicians
• Ability to understand moderately complex written materials
• Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment
• Ability to organize multiple tasks and maintain control of own workflow
• Ability to type 25–30 wpm on computer
• Ability to evaluate problematic situations and respond appropriately
• Demonstrates discretion in dealing with confidential information
• Proven record of providing excellent customer service both internally and externally

Responsibilities

• Processes incoming teleservices calls that may involve physician referrals, health information requests, physician-to-physician access, and service referral
• Determines caller's needs and provides requested information, assistance, or service
• Documents call information using established and somewhat complex guidelines
• Processes specialized teleservice calls following pre-established guidelines (paging, outbound surveys, appointment scheduling)
• Offers assistance to patients, families, customers, physicians, and other referral sources with printed and verbal information
• Performs other job functions as assigned or requested
