Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support a specific patient population under RN supervision. You will assist with direct and indirect patient care, ensuring comfort, safety and effective communication within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities include collecting vitals, drawing blood, performing EKGs, and assisting with daily activities, transport and hygiene. A collaborative, patient-focused mindset is essential to excel in this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a CNA, Medical Assistant or PCT program, or equivalent medical background.
• CPR/BLS certification within 60 days of starting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision based on age and unit.
• Obtain vitals such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, O2, and document findings.
• Draw venous or capillary blood and prepare specimens for lab testing.
• Perform EKGs and maintain emergency equipment.
• Assist with patient mobility, hygiene, feeding, and daily living activities.
• Support care continuity across admission to discharge.
• Participate in PI activities and uphold organizational competencies.

Education

AHA BLS Healthcare Provider within 60 days
