Job summary

Sutter West Bay Medical Group in San Francisco, CA is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our expanding program. The role involves providing comprehensive cardiac and thoracic surgical care in inpatient and outpatient settings, collaborating with cardiology, oncology, and other specialties to deliver high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery residency or fellowship, or enrollment with anticipated completion before start date.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Thoracic Surgery; current Board Certification preferred.
• Eligible for unrestricted California medical licensure.
• Current DEA registration.
• Expertise in adult cardiac surgery (coronary, valvular, aortic) and thoracic surgery (lung resections).
• New graduates and fellows are encouraged to apply.
• Commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Epic or similar electronic health record systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Perform a broad range of cardiac and thoracic procedures, elective and urgent.
• Evaluate and manage patients with CAD, valvular disease, thoracic aortic disease, tumors.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, EPs, pulmonologists, oncologists, and intensivists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and quality initiatives.
• Provide preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care.
• Contribute to program development and regional growth.
• Maintain documentation in Epic EMR.
• Support call coverage and emergent care as part of a team.
