Job summary

Sutter West Bay Medical Group in San Francisco is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join a growing program.

You will collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role emphasizes clinical excellence, teamwork, and innovation in a regional program serving the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery residency/fellowship or current enrollment with anticipated completion before start date.
• Board certification/eligibility in thoracic surgery; ABTS certification preferred.
• Eligible for unrestricted California medical licensure.
• Current DEA registration.
• Expertise in adult cardiac surgery (coronary, valvular, aortic) and thoracic surgery (lung resection).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Perform a broad range of cardiac and thoracic procedures, elective and urgent.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, pulmonologists, oncologists, and intensivists.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary case conferences, quality initiatives, and program growth.
• Preoperative consultation, perioperative management, and postoperative follow-up.
• Support regional expansion of cardiovascular and thoracic services.
• Maintain accurate documentation within the Epic EMR.
• Engage in call coverage and emergent surgical care as part of a collaborative team.
