Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to monitor patients, assist with daily activities, and support the healthcare team. You will observe monitors, perform basic tests, and help ensure patient safety under the supervision of registered nurses.

The role requires a High School Diploma and at least two years of direct patient care experience, with ECG/EKG training preferred. The position includes weekend and holiday coverage as needed and offers opportunities for growth within Northwell

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Minimum two (2) years direct patient care experience, required.
• Basic ECG/EKG Interpretation course, preferred.
• Must complete Telemetry/EKG training and Nursing Assistant course.
• Ability to operate cardiac monitors and EKG machine, required.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Observes cardiac and other monitors on patients and reports abnormal alerts.
• Obtains a baseline strip each shift for monitored patients.
• Replaces electrode pads, wires, and batteries as needed.
• Ensures emergency equipment is cleaned and checked.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and with feeding as needed.
• Measures and records vital signs and collects specimens as required.
• Reports changes in patient condition to the RN promptly.
• Performs prescribed tests and treatments under RN supervision.
• Ensures patient safety and responds to alarms and calls.
