Job summary

UAB Medicine’s 7 North Cardiology Stepdown and Intermediate Care Unit provides specialized care for patients recovering from structural cardiac procedures and high-risk cardiac conditions with telemetry, meds, and skilled nursing interventions.

The unit operates on a pattern rotation and requires coverage every fourth weekend; we rely on BCLS/ACLS-certified staff who are proficient in ECG interpretation and collaborative multidisciplinary care.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required or within 30 days of hire.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from Alabama Board of Nursing before hire.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care according to policies and protocols.
• Implement and monitor care plans; record and communicate patient condition.
• Coordinate discipline involvement for well-coordinated patient care.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders; assist in discharge planning.
