Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse for the 7 North Cardiology Stepdown and Intermediate Care Unit. This night-shift role supports patients recovering from structural cardiac procedures, with close telemetry, medication management, and specialized nursing interventions.

You will work 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on weekends, providing direct care and coordinating discharge planning within a 23-bed unit renowned for high-level cardiac care. BLS/ACLS certified staff are preferred.

Qualifications

BLS Provider within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
