Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking skilled registered nurses for the 7 North Cardiology Stepdown and Intermediate Care Unit to provide direct patient care from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. This 23-bed unit specializes in post-procedure cardiac care requiring close telemetry, medication management, and coordinated team nursing.

Applicants must hold a Diploma in Nursing, be licensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing, and have BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
