Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Central Massachusetts is hiring a Patient Care Tech III to support the nursing team in the Step-Down/ED/ICU areas. Under licensed clinicians, you will assist with patient care, monitor high-risk patients, and help maintain a safe environment, using proper body mechanics and safety protocols.

The role requires a high school education or GED, current BLS, and experience in inpatient/outpatient care or clinical training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support.
• Inpatient/outpatient care experience or clinical care training.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Computer skills required.
• Strong interpersonal skills to gather information and support collaborative work.
• Proven problem-solving abilities; stay calm under stress.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly with the RN about patient observations.
• Provide constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Maintain a safe environment and de-escalate when needed.
• Assist patients with daily living activities.
• Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients.
• Record vital signs and measurements; assist with basic labs.
