Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Cardiac Procedural Recovery & Short Stay Unit. This part-time, day-shift role supports post-procedure care and essential daily living activities in Norfolk, VA.

The PCT will monitor vital signs, assist with mobility, perform phlebotomy and EKGs, collect specimens, and maintain accurate documentation under RN supervision. AHA BLS and a relevant certification are required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One of the listed certifications (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps, or EMT/Paramedic) is required.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation; support safe patient movement.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing and EKG testing.
• Collect specimens and manage peripheral IVs; Foley catheter insertion/removal as directed.
• Document patient status accurately and report changes to the RN/medical staff.
