Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Cardiac Procedural and Surgical Unit. The role is full-time on the day shift, 7:00am–7:00pm, three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays.

The PCT will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, perform phlebotomy and EKG tests, collect specimens, and support safe patient care under the RN. A CNA or equivalent certification is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Must hold CNA/NCMA/NCPCT/US Navy Hospital Corps School or EMT/EMS/EMR/AEMT/Paramedic or RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical program.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and assist with mobility/ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing.
• Conduct EKG testing and peripheral IV removal.
• Collect specimens and manage Foley catheter procedures.
• Document patient conditions and report changes to RN.
