Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Cardiac Procedural and Surgical Unit. This full-time day-shift role runs 7:00 AM–7:00 PM with rotating weekends and holidays.

The unit provides high-acuity care for pre/post cardiac surgery patients, including bypass, valve procedures, ICDs, and pacemakers. You will support daily living activities, monitor vitals, perform EKGs and phlebotomy, collect specimens, and assist with IV removal and Foley catheter procedures

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent certification required as listed in qualifications.
• Current enrollment in a clinical program (RN/LPN/RT/PT) or recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing and specimen collection.
• Conduct EKG testing and manage peripheral IV removal.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and removal.
• Ensure patient safety under supervision of RN and healthcare team.
