Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Cardiovascular ICU and Intermediate Care Unit. This part-time, day-shift role supports RNs by performing basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, assisting with ADLs, and ensuring smooth unit workflow.

The position requires a high school diploma, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinicals, BLS, and a willingness to work 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. with weekends/holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Preferred: Graduate of Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake/output.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility and multi-tasking in a high-stress environment.
• Prioritizes unit tasks under the supervision of the RN/manager.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates information to staff/family/patient.
• Manages overall unit workflow with charge RN/assistant manager as needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admissions/discharges.

Emergency Medical Technician
