Qualifications

• ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography.
• BLS certification for healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate technical competence for department-specific ultrasound protocols.
• Prioritize and schedule exams.
• Coordinate exams with medical staff, physician offices and patients.
• Prepare for exams by following patient identification processes and educating patient/family.
• Perform ultrasound exams in accordance with related protocols and timelines.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort and achieve quality outcomes.
• Identify patient needs and communicate with physicians and caregivers throughout the exam.
• Return patient to room and ensure stability after the exam.
• Mentor caregivers and students on equipment use and procedural technique.
• Document exam results and required information.
• Apply appropriate charge codes for exams and supplies.
• Clean and maintain equipment, work area, and stock supplies.
• Coordinate repair or supply needs via proper channels.
• Support quality improvement processes.
• Participate in educational opportunities to develop skills and knowledge.
• Provide education for caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.
