Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Sonographer to perform general, vascular and cardiac ultrasound studies. You will review patient history, select proper transducers and optimize imaging while ensuring safety and comfort. The role requires accurate documentation, image labeling, and collaboration with physicians.

You will contribute to quality improvement initiatives, participate in staff training, and help maintain accreditation standards. On-call and rotating shifts are part of the schedule."

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond high school that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Sonographer role.
• Licensure/certification in multiple ARDMS/ARRT disciplines as required by department.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment for general, vascular and/or cardiac studies.
• Review medical records and physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Position patient and select transducers and settings for optimal images.
• Label images with patient identifiers and locations accurately.
• Enter study data into radiology information systems and code procedures correctly.
• Identify equipment issues and evaluate new products for future use.
• Communicate findings to physicians and mentor staff as needed.
• Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities.
