Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform routine and specialized echocardiograms, supporting physicians with diagnostic testing across multiple sites. The role requires strong patient communication, teamwork and adherence to protocols.

Responsibilities include documenting results, maintaining equipment, and contributing to quality improvement efforts while working a schedule that includes weekends and on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be registered in appropriate cardiology specialties within one year of hire.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• ACS or RCS credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms as requested by physician and protocols.
• Record quality information while performing imaging and follow guidelines.
• Explain procedures and potential side effects to patient or family.
• Provide echocardiography service at multiple locations, weekends and on-call as scheduled.
• Operate equipment and maintain/repair as needed.
• Prepare preliminary reports for review by Cardiologist.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and evaluate procedure results.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Instruct students, fellows, nurses, or health personnel as requested.
• Attend Echo Lab meetings and continue education.
