Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a skilled echocardiography technologist to perform routine and emergency studies, including 2D/3D, Doppler, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms. You will record quality data, explain procedures, and provide service across multiple locations with on-call responsibilities.

You will operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, review patient history, and prepare preliminary cardiologist reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or cardiac ultrasound training preferred.
• Completion of CPR/BLS course required.
• ARRT/ARDMS registrations preferred as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms: 2D, 3D, Doppler, TEE, and Stress Echo per physician orders and protocols.
• Record quality information and follow procedural guidelines.
• Explain procedures and potential side effects to patients or families.
• Provide echocardiography service across locations, including ports, with variable shifts and on-call coverage.
• Operate echocardiography equipment; utilize transducers, digital networks, and off-line analysis systems.
• Maintain equipment; perform minor adjustments and report malfunctions.
• Review patient history to obtain relevant information for diagnostic procedures.
• Prepare preliminary reports for Cardiologist review and interpretation.
• Participate in quality improvement, document outcomes, and maintain logs.
• Attend Echo Lab meetings and related conferences for ongoing education.
• Support a collaborative department environment; assist leadership as needed.
• Level 4 expectations include research participation and inpatient echocardiograms on weekends/holidays.
