Job summary

Methodist Hospital Texsan is seeking an Echo Technician Student PRN to perform physician-ordered cardiac imaging under the Non-Invasive Cardiology Manager. The role includes 2-D/ M-mode echocardiograms, TEEs, carotid imaging, and stress studies, with strict adherence to hospital standards.

Candidates must be registry eligible (RDCS/RDMS-FE ARDMS or RCS CCI) and meet one of the listed education options. PRN status implies as-needed scheduling within a busy cardiac unit.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be registry eligible for RDCS/RDMS-FE from ARDMS or RCS from CCI.
• A. Associate’s Degree plus 1 year clinical ultrasound experience (ARDMS/RCS eligibility).
• B. Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited diagnostic medical sonography program (RCS/ARDMS eligibility).
• C. Bachelor’s degree with 6 months clinical ultrasound experience (RCS eligibility).
• D. Bachelor’s degree in sonography or vascular technology (ARDMS eligibility).
• E. Current RCS/RCCS/RVS credentials (ARDMS eligibility).
• F. High school diploma plus 2 years ultrasound experience (RCS eligibility).
• G. Non-accredited program with 800 clinical hours (RCS eligibility).

Responsibilities

• Acquires physician orders and explains procedures to patients while prioritizing STAT exams.
• Ensures proper equipment operation and performs routine maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs echocardiograms including 2-D, M-mode, Doppler, and TEEs as directed.
• Conducts stress echocardiography with standard views.
• Assists with tilt-table testing and patient preparation.
• Obtains carotid images with color Doppler and Doppler measurements.
• Maintains accurate patient reports and manages data in hospital systems.
