Job summary

Methodist Southlake Medical Center is seeking an Echo Technologist to perform comprehensive echocardiograms (2D, M-Mode, color Doppler, pulse wave Doppler, CW, TEE, stress echo) to high standards.

Under supervision, the incumbent will ensure patient safety, prepare worksheets for review, and support QA with data collection. Requires RDCS/ARDMS or RCS, BLS, hospital experience, and on-call availability.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an associate degree echo program and/or an accredited echo training program preferred.
• High School Diploma and/or GED.
• Current American Heart Association ACLS preferred.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association required.
• RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI) required.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Typing and computer skills preferred.
• Work Experience: 1 year hospital experience preferred.
• On Call required.

Responsibilities

• Assures proper patient identification and safety.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patient.
• Demonstrates understanding of universal precautions.
• Demonstrates understanding of role in fire and disaster.
• Participates in mandatory programs.
• Maintains organized and clean working environment.
• Completes forms/records/logs accurately and maintains logs/records for procedures completed for billing.
• Prepares echocardiographic worksheet for physicians review and interpretation.
• Supports department Quality Assurance process through accurate data collection.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and maintain positive professional relationships.
• Can take instruction from supervisors, patients and vendors in a professional manner.
• Resolves conflict and uses chain of command to drive outcomes.
• Demonstrates sound knowledge in response to STAT calls and prioritizes STAT and routine orders.
• Demonstrates technical proficiency in all echo procedures.
• Uses critical thinking to assess patient’s condition and provide views for cardiologist.
• Manages supplies and forms within the budget.
• Participates in required and continuing education.
