Job summary

ChristianaCare’s Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE is a 36‑bed post‑critical care cardiac unit, with 12 beds for post‑operative open‑heart surgery and LVAD patients.

As an RN on 5E you will perform advanced assessments, continuous hemodynamic monitoring, med administration, and patient education, with duties including chest tubes, central lines, and pacing wires; requires 1 year RN experience and BLS (ACLS preferred).

Qualifications

• BSN preferred
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire required.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required
• Previous stepdown experience preferred
• Previous critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity patients.
• Perform advanced assessment and continuous hemodynamic monitoring.
• Administer medications and educate patients and families.
• Early detection of changes in patient condition and escalations as needed.
• Care for chest tubes, central venous catheters, pacing wires and post‑operative care.
