Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Heart Failure Unit (5E). This full-time role offers day/midnight rotating shifts (7A-7P & 7P-7A) with 72 hours per pay.

The unit includes a 36-bed specialized post-critical care cardiac unit, with 12 beds for post-operative open-heart surgery and LVAD care. Responsibilities include comprehensive nursing care, advanced assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, and patient education.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred as a baseline credential.
• Commitment to obtain BSN within three years of date of hire.
• At least one year of RN experience required; prior stepdown/critical care experience preferred.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to heart failure unit patients.
• Perform advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring, and medication administration.
• Educate patients and families; recognize early changes in patient condition.
• Care for patients with chest tubes, drains, large-bore CVCs, and external pacing wires.
