Job summary

The Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE is a 36-bed post‑critical care cardiac unit delivering high‑acuity care to complex heart failure patients and postoperative LVAD cases.

As an RN on 5E, you’ll perform advanced assessments, monitor hemodynamics, administer medications, educate patients, and participate in early detection of clinical changes, with chest tubes, drains, central lines and pacing wires encountered.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required
• Previous stepdown experience preferred
• Previous critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the Heart Failure Unit (5E)
• Perform advanced assessment and continuous hemodynamic monitoring
• Administer medications and educate patients and families
• Early detection of changes in patient condition and rapid response
