Job summary

ChristianaCare’s Heart Failure Unit 5E at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE is a 36-bed post-critical care cardiac unit delivering high-acuity care for complex heart failure and post-operative cardiac needs, including open-heart/LVAD patients.

The RN will perform comprehensive nursing care with advanced assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, med administration, patient education, and early detection of deterioration. BSN preferred; DE RN licensure required or eligible; BLS required; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire required
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with chest tubes and surgical drains, large-bore central venous catheters, and external cardiac pacing wires.
• Perform advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring, medication administration, patient education.
• Early detection of changes in patient condition and escalation as needed.
