Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. This 36-bed unit provides high-acuity cardiac care including post-operative open-heart/LVAD patients. Expect 72 hours per pay, day/midnight rotating shifts, and weekend/holiday coverage as required.

Qualified candidates have a BSN preferred with a plan to obtain BSN within three years; at least one year RN experience; DE licensure or eligibility; BLS required and ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required.
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Delaware.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity cardiac patients on 5E Heart Failure Unit.
• Perform advanced assessment with continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring; administer medications.
• Educate patients and families; ensure patient safety and early detection of deterioration.
• Coordinate care for post-operative open-heart surgery/LVAD patients and those with chest tubes or central lines.
