Arizona State University is seeking a Facilities Assistant 1 Non-Exempt to perform daily recycling routes, assist in campus recycling programs, and serve on the Zero Waste initiative. The role involves outdoor work, operating forklifts and related equipment, and strong customer service.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and offers a 7:00 AM–3:30 PM weekday schedule with a starting hourly rate around $20.24, with comprehensive ASU benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience/training.
• Experience in recycling/solid waste collection beneficial.
• Customer service experience expected and valued.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily waste and recycling routes and special requests.
• Assist in implementing waste and recycling programs on all ASU campuses.
• Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with students, staff and faculty.
• Drive, load, and unload 15-foot stake-bed and cargo vans.
• Properly sort materials into correct bins.
• Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies).
• Operate solid waste compactors and other hydraulic machines.
• Work outdoors with lifting and standing for extended periods.
• Use work order systems (TMA) for maintenance requests.
• Communicate effectively to perform essential functions of the job.
