Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a Utility Plant Operator (Licensed Pipefitter) to operate, maintain, and repair the campus steam, condensate, water and sewer distribution systems and equipment.

The role requires a Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Pipefitter license, and a valid Class D driver's license. The position is based in Amherst with a Monday–Friday schedule and on-site work arrangement, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Pipefitter license required.
• Must acquire Massachusetts Water Distribution Grade 2 license within 12 months of hire.
• Valid Class D driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains, and repairs campus steam, condensate, water and sewer systems and related equipment.
• Tests, repairs, or replaces valves, fittings and pipe insulation.
• Installs and repairs underground steam, water, storm drains and sewer lines using plans and drawings.
