Job summary

Barnes & Noble College in Kansas City is seeking a resourceful, customer‑focused Part-time Supervisor to support store operations and coach team members on the sales floor. You will work varying or set weekly schedules year round, assisting the management team and delivering outstanding service to the academic community.

You will help train staff, maintain store standards, and act as Manager‑on‑Duty in the absence of leadership at satellite locations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a retail setting preferred.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Spend the majority of time on the sales floor coaching and modeling Wow customer service.
• Train and oversee daily work activity of team members in one or more departments.
• Ensure knowledge of department/store operations and maintain store standards.
• Enforce loss prevention procedures and keep area merchandise and store operational.
• Assist in daily store operations and act as Manager-on-Duty when needed.
• Process sales transactions as required and support scheduling needs.
