Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to partner with the Store Manager and lead the campus store’s daily operations. You will deliver exceptional customer service, drive sales, and manage merchandising, inventory, and staff development to support the campus community.

The role requires 2–3 years in retail with leadership exposure, strong communication, and proficiency with POS systems and MS Office. A flexible schedule including evenings and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of retail experience, including at least one year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, visual merchandising, and customer service.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily sales floor operations by delivering exceptional customer service and coaching team members.
• Partner with the Store Manager to oversee daily operations and merchandising, serving as Manager-on-Duty as needed.
• Recruit, hire, train, coach, schedule, and develop store team members.
• Drive sales and operational performance by analyzing trends and managing expenses.
• Build relationships with customers and campus partners while resolving concerns professionally.
• Support stock replenishment and inventory accuracy across all departments.
