Barnes & Noble College is seeking a Department Manager to lead an assigned department, drive sales, manage inventory, and deliver outstanding customer experiences across campus stores. You will supervise, train, and develop team members while partnering with store leadership to execute company initiatives and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail experience with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience in merchandising, customer service, and sales performance.
• Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily department operations, delivering exceptional customer service and coaching team members.
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop department staff; schedule and delegate work.
• Partner with store leadership to support operations and act as Manager-on-Duty as needed.
• Build relationships with customers and campus partners; resolve concerns professionally.
• Lead merchandising, inventory management, and visual presentation to ensure product availability.
• Analyze department performance and sales trends to forecast needs and drive results.
• Champion safety, loss prevention, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized department with a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends/holidays.
