Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Department Manager to support daily operations, merchandising, and team development at our campus store. You will work with the store leadership team to ensure an exceptional customer experience across departments.

The role involves coaching team members, scheduling, inventory activities, and maintaining store standards to engage students and faculty while delivering a welcoming campus environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two or more years of retail leadership or buying experience preferred, or successful completion of the Barnes & Noble College Aspiring Leader Program.
• Experience delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations and performance of an assigned department.
• Partner with store leadership to maintain merchandising standards and department readiness.
• Coach and support team members with day-to-day direction, training, and feedback.
• Serve as Manager-on-Duty and provide leadership across all departments.
