Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Department Manager to drive operations in a Syracuse campus store. You will support daily operations, coaching teams, managing merchandise, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and 2+ years in retail leadership or completion of the Barnes & Noble College Aspiring Leader Program. A flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays, is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two or more years of retail leadership or buying experience preferred, or completion of the Barnes & Noble College Aspiring Leader Program.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations and performance of an assigned department.
• Partner with store leadership to maintain merchandising standards and inventory accuracy.
• Coach and develop store team members with day-to-day direction and feedback.
• Serve as Manager-on-Duty as assigned.
• Maintain a visible presence on the sales floor and engage customers.
• Assist with scheduling, workload planning, inventory activities, and order fulfillment.
