Job summary

The University of North Carolina Wilmington is seeking a Police Telecommunicator to support the UNCW University Police Department. This 1.0 FTE position requires rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and uses radio, telephone lines, and DCI terminals to coordinate with field personnel and other agencies.

As a Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act, the role includes annual training. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and DCI certification within 45 days;

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and ability to obtain DCI certification within 45 days.
• DCI computer operator certification is required.
• Basic Telecommunicator certification within one year may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate all communications equipment.
• Maintain contact with field personnel and other agencies via radio, phone lines, and DCI terminals.
• Ensure steady flow of information between public, department staff, and enforcement agencies.
• Work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, 24/7 operations.
