Job summary

The University of North Carolina Greensboro Police Department seeks a professional telecommunicator to answer calls, dispatch officers, and monitor campus safety systems. The role requires handling multiple radio channels, maintaining logs, and supporting field officers with timely information.

Open Date 11/02/2026 and Close Date 11/22/2026; 12-month work year, non-exempt, 6:30 pm–6:30 am or 10:00 am–10:00 pm shifts; 1.000 FTE. Training for required certifications will be provided if needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency with the competencies to perform the work.
• Must obtain DCI/NCIC operator certification within 45 days of employment.
• Some positions may require Basic Telecommunicator Certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Answer all phone calls and radio transmissions.
• Dispatch officers and emergency units (fire and rescue).
• Maintain an accurate log of all activities and calls.
• Provide information to officers in the field and monitor their safety.
• Maintain and operate emergency notification systems, alarms, cameras, and recording devices.
