Job summary

NC State University is seeking an IT Network Administrator I in Raleigh, NC. The role supports day-to-day operations, implements and maintains core campus network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, VPN, IPAM, and related services.

You will work with the software development team to optimize network tool performance and participate in monthly vulnerability assessments. The position requires a bachelor’s degree with zero to two years of relevant experience, strong networking

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with zero–two years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Solid knowledge of core networking concepts (OSI model, TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs)
• Experience with enterprise ticketing workflows and network-monitoring software
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• CCNA or equivalent university network infrastructure experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and support network installation projects and trackers
• Provide campus-wide connectivity guidance on DNS/DHCP and network options
• Update and document internal procedures to improve efficiency
• Collaborate with software development to optimize network tools
• Conduct monthly software vulnerability assessments
• Maintain on-call coverage for 24/7 support and after-hours maintenance
