The primary purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive IT support to faculty, staff, and students within the College of Natural Resources, with a focus on endpoint computing, instructional technology, and day-to-day technical operations.
This role is responsible for the setup, deployment, maintenance, and support of desktop and laptop systems across Windows, Mac, and Linux environments. The position provides technical support for classrooms, computer labs, and conference spaces, ensuring that instructional technology and related systems function reliably to support teaching and learning.
The position troubleshoots a wide range of hardware, software, and connectivity issues, working both independently and collaboratively with other IT staff to resolve incidents. and fulfill service requests.
The role also assists with system deployments, asset management, and ongoing maintenance of computing resources across the college.
In addition, this position contributes to IT projects and service improvements as assigned and continues to build technical expertise, including developing proficiency in Linux-based systems and research computing support. The role may also provide informal guidance and task direction to student employees or interns.
Strong customer service skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential to effectively support the varied and evolving technology needs of the college.
Provides technical support for desktop computing, printers, and related peripherals across Windows, Mac, and limited Linux environments. Responsibilities include system setup, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting for faculty, staff, and students. This role supports standard software and applications, assists with network connectivity issues, and ensures systems are maintained in alignment with university policies and security standards.
Provides support for a range of user needs, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues and assisting with installation and configuration of applications on university-supported devices.
Supports instructional technology across classrooms, computer labs, and conference spaces, including troubleshooting audiovisual equipment, maintaining classroom computing systems, and assisting instructors with technology needs. Works to ensure minimal disruption to teaching and learning by responding to issues in a timely and customer-focused manner.
Assists with desktop infrastructure and lifecycle management, including inventory tracking, hardware deployments, redeployments, and coordination with surplus processes. Contributes to maintaining accurate records of IT assets and participates in system imaging and configuration processes.
Participates in IT projects and service improvements as assigned, contributing to implementation efforts, testing, and documentation. Works collaboratively with other IT staff to support college-wide initiatives and may assist with tasks related to system administration, including basic support of Linux-based systems and research computing environments.
May provide informal guidance and task direction to student employees or interns, assisting with workload distribution and ensuring service requests are addressed effectively.
This role requires the ability to prioritize competing requests, communicate effectively with a varied user base, and apply problem-solving skills across a wide range of technical issues.

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Demonstrated ability to support Windows and Mac systems, including system setup, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting. Working knowledge of Linux systems with the ability to provide basic support and a willingness to continue developing proficiency. Familiarity with standard enterprise applications, device management tools, and university-supported technologies.
Ability to support classroom and instructional technology, including audiovisual equipment, presentation systems, and computing environments. Capable of troubleshooting issues in time-sensitive situations and providing effective support to instructors and presenters.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a varied user base, including faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrated ability to respond to issues professionally and maintain a service-oriented approach in a high-demand environment.
Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of hardware, software, and connectivity issues. Capable of prioritizing multiple requests, adapting to changing needs, and working both independently and collaboratively to resolve technical problems.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to shared goals and supporting IT initiatives. Willingness to assist colleagues, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive team environment.
