Job summary

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks an IT Network Assistant Level 1 to support installation, maintenance, and operation of the College's data and communications infrastructure.

Under supervision, you will help provide reliable network services for faculty, staff, and students, handling wired and wireless connectivity, Active Directory support, and routine documentation. This is an in-person role with potential for after-hours work during maintenance windows.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years IT experience.
• Associate’s degree with 1 year IT experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 6 months IT experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of network infrastructure.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity issues.
• Perform routine network maintenance including firmware updates and testing.
• Support LAN, WAN, VLAN and wireless networking.
• Provide technical support for Active Directory, network printing, and file sharing.
• Document network configurations, inventories and service requests.
• Assist with technology deployments and projects with vendors and campus units.
• Follow cybersecurity policies and implement network security best practices.
• Perform related technology support duties as assigned.
