Job summary

City University of New York’s Brooklyn College seeks an IT Network Assistant Level 1 (provisional) to support installation, maintenance, and operation of the College’s data and communications infrastructure. You will provide frontline technical support for wired and wireless connectivity and work under supervision with latitude for initiative.

Responsibilities include assisting with network deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation, while collaborating with the Network

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years in a computer/tech role; or
Associate’s degree plus 1 year in a computer/tech role; or
Bachelor’s degree plus 6 months in a computer/tech role; or
Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field.

Responsibilities

Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure (switches, routers, APs, firewalls).
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and authentication issues.
Perform routine network maintenance, firmware updates, and disaster recovery participation.
Provide support for LAN/WAN/VLAN and wireless networks; assist with Active Directory and network services.
Document configurations, inventories, procedures, and service requests.
Assist with deployments and projects, coordinating with vendors and campus departments.
Observe cybersecurity policies and assist in network security practices.
