Job summary

Smith College is seeking a Laborer to maintain campus grounds, roads, walkways and parking lots. You will operate riding mowers, snow blowers and other equipment, perform debris removal and snow removal as part of a team or independently.

Responsibilities include driving college vehicles, inspecting equipment, and following OSHA safety rules. A valid driver's license and DOT credentialing may be required; background checks apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1 year grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain DOT credential if required.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 90 pounds occasionally; maintain safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns, trim hedges, load trucks, remove debris, and perform snow removal.
• Safely operate college equipment and vehicles for campus grounds maintenance.
• Inspect and maintain equipment; report issues to supervisor promptly.
• Provide back-up staffing as necessary; maintain positive relations with campus community.
