Job summary

Smith College seeks a full-time Grounds Services helper to maintain campus landscapes, including turf, plant beds, irrigation, and snow removal. Under supervision, you will operate power equipment, apply pesticides per regulatory requirements, and perform safety and maintenance tasks across campus locations in Northampton, MA.

You will must hold a valid CDL-B or obtain it within 6 months, possess a MA Pesticide Applicator license or obtain it, and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of three years related landscape construction/maintenance and turf management experience.
• CDL Class B or obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Massachusetts Pesticide Applicators license or obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain health, aesthetics and safety of campus landscape including turf and plant beds.
• Mow lawns, operate power equipment and perform related labor tasks.
• Assist with pesticide formulation, mixing and application per regs.
• Assist in irrigation, drainage and turf maintenance; repairs as needed.
• Observe OSHA safety rules and college policies; participate in safety programs.
• Provide back-up staffing and complete assigned projects.
