Job summary

The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a skilled Grounds Department supervisor to oversee campus greenspace, hardscape, and outdoor facilities. You will coordinate irrigation, maintenance, and events support, focusing on water conservation and safe, efficient operations.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in landscape maintenance, supervisory experience, and familiarity with North Texas flora. Regular on-site duties and driving responsibilities are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Texas Driver’s License required.
• 5 years landscape industry experience.
• 3 years supervisory experience.
• 3 years experience with North Texas plants, shrubs, trees and soils.

Responsibilities

• Review designs for University landscape and irrigation projects (in-house and external).
• Monitor department budget and expenditures; assist with equipment purchases and plantings.
• Ensure campus water conservation and integrate it into planning.
• Develop and maintain written policies, procedures and protocols for the department.
• Staff the Grounds Department and ensure training/development in written documentation.
• Embed safety as a daily operational priority across the organization.
• Assist with the campus-wide strategic plan for landscaping, beautification and accessibility.
• Maintain valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
