Job summary

University of Kansas seeks a Facility Manager to serve as the primary facilities liaison for assigned campus buildings, overseeing safe, efficient daily operations in support of teaching, research, and student life.

The role partners with occupants and Facilities Services teams, coordinates maintenance, space management, safety, and improvements, and reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities Services. Reliable communication and on-site decision making are key.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with 9 years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Communications, Facilities Management, or related field with 5 years of experience.
  • Strong written communication skills demonstrated in applications materials.
  • Experience in customer-facing or service-oriented roles.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine interior and exterior building inspections to identify maintenance, custodial, safety, and operational issues.
  • Document deficiencies and building conditions; submit and track work requests in the university’s CMMS (e.g., Maximo).
  • Coordinate with Facilities Services trades and monitor preventive, scheduled, and corrective maintenance for timely completion and occupant satisfaction.
  • Identify emerging facility needs and recommend solutions to support building performance and health.
  • Serve as the primary Facilities Services representative for assigned buildings and coordinate repairs and improvements as directed.
  • Maintain inventory control and assist with safety initiatives and compliance with university policies.
