Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking an Events Specialist to coordinate and execute a diverse slate of UGED events for students, staff, and the LSA community. You will partner with UGED units from concept through execution and support college-wide events and administrative needs.

You will manage timelines, budgets, vendors, ROS plans, and on-site support, with a strong focus on engaging experiences and cross-functional collaboration within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in event management, business, communications, hospitality, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience coordinating and planning events, programs, or projects.
• Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously, including coordinating timelines, logistics, vendors, and event details.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse constituents.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate events and programming from initial concept through post-event follow-up.
• Organize and schedule planning meetings and track timelines and deliverables.
• Coordinate with external vendors (caterers, audiovisual, florists, photographers).
• Create event run-of-show (ROS) plans and document logistics and vendor info.
• Assist with budget preparation, funding tracking, and reimbursements.
• Collaborate with marketing to ensure branding and communication of events.
• Provide on-site event support for college-wide activities.
• Coordinate financial activities with the LSA Business Office and handle documentation.
