Job summary

University Housing at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a full-time Cook to join our dining and culinary team on campus. The role focuses on high-volume food production, display cooking, and ensuring safety and quality for residents, staff, and guests.

You will work five 8-hour shifts, including nights and weekends, in-person at campus facilities, with meal benefits and opportunities for career growth within Dining & Culinary Services.

Qualifications

• 1 year of food production experience in a professional kitchen setting
• ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment
• Over 1 year of institution-scale food service production experience in a professional kitchen setting
• Leadership or training experience
• ServSafe Food Manager Certificate

Responsibilities

• Greets customers, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities
• Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
• Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
• Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Trains and guides student workers
