Qualifications

• Knowledge of custodial cleaning practices, sanitation standards, floor and carpet care, and safe operation of custodial tools and equipment.
• Ability to identify operational issues, respond to changing priorities, and make sound decisions to maintain efficient custodial services.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees, supervisors, campus partners, and other University stakeholders.
• Ability to train employees on established procedures, assess work quality, provide constructive feedback, and address performance concerns appropriately.
• Ability to follow established safety procedures, recognize potential hazards, and maintain consistent standards for cleanliness, sanitation, and facility care.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule staff assignments and cleaning services.
• Arrange shifts for emergency cleaning projects.
• Evaluate equipment and cleaning methods for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Supervise minor maintenance and report major repairs.
• Prepare premises for events such as graduations, athletic events, and conferences.
• Interview prospective employees and select qualified candidates.
• Set training standards and monitor compliance with management.
• Evaluate work performance and take remedial action where needed.
• Enforce attendance rules and manage staff schedule.
• Decide retention or termination of probationary staff.
• Ensure efficient use of time and resources and uphold standards.
