Job summary

Thompson Facility Services is seeking a Custodial Supervisor to lead a custodial team at a Virginia college campus. You will oversee daily cleaning operations, train staff, schedule coverage, and ensure safety standards are met to provide a clean, welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of custodial, housekeeping, or facilities maintenance experience.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Experience in higher education, healthcare, hospitality, or commercial facilities preferred.
• Knowledge of custodial procedures, floor care techniques, and cleaning equipment operation.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and campus stakeholders.
• Proficiency in basic computer and reporting functions preferred.
• Reliable attendance and scheduling flexibility required.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and support custodial staff on cleaning procedures, equipment, and safety.
• Assign tasks, manage schedules, and provide regular feedback.
• Supervise daily activities across campus facilities.
• Develop daily work schedules and coverage plans.
• Inspect buildings to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
• Monitor staff performance and provide corrective action when needed.
