Job summary

Sodexo at University of Massachusetts Boston is seeking a Cook to prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold foods for all meals in a fast-paced kitchen.

The role emphasizes safety, sanitation, and teamwork, with adherence to Sodexo’s culinary standards. Prior kitchen experience and ability to read and follow recipes are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity with kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food according to current applicable standards and regulations to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving a variety of dishes.
• Estimate food requirements, check production, and maintain records for production planning.
• Significant walking or other mobility is required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, potentially longer than 8 hours.
• Lift up to 35 pounds frequently; up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Attend shifts on time and perform other duties as needed.
