Job summary

Sodexo at WEST VIRGINIA STATE UNIVERSITY is seeking a Cook to prepare, portion, cook, and present hot and cold items for all meals and events, following Sodexo culinary standards in a fast-paced kitchen. You will work varied shifts with available hours, maintain food safety, read recipes, and support kitchen teamwork; high school diploma or equivalent and 0–2 years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards to ensure high-quality food service.
• Follow basic recipes and directions for preparing, cooking, and serving food.
• Estimate food requirements and check production to plan supplies.
• Significant walking or other mobility.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
